Revolut was my baptism of fire into the fintech world. I successfully led the copy team for over 2 years, throughout the pandemic and out the other side. During my tenure on the ‘rocketship’, I helped grow the business from 10m to 16m customers.
When I first joined, Revolut didn’t have a consistent way of writing about its products (e.g. no consistent taglines or lexicons). I knew this wasn’t going to work as the company continued to scale and expand its product portfolio globally.
To solve this, I introduced the highly-effective strategic messaging formula that I was taught a decade ago. I also wrote in-depth Tone of Voice Guidelines to replace the 1-page blog post on ToV which was all they had. Both ToV and Messaging Guidelines were adopted company-wide. The result? Consistent, creative, persuasive copy that you’ll find throughout the Revolut customer journey, from landing page to app store to email. Revolut Shopper
I created the strategic messaging for this exciting new Chrome browser extension, which ‘transforms the way you buy online’. I wrote the copy for all the other GTM assets, including the landing page, Chrome store, emails, Revolut blog, and launch video for social and YouTube.
Stocks
I looked after Revolut’s new Stocks product throughout my tenure (and was initially hired into the Wealth+Trading team before being centralised). I led the copy for launches of features like in-app news, real-time updates and top traders.
I wrote day-to-day emails and alerts communicating straightforward news like new stocks or updated terms, or more complicated issues like how Brexit will affect customers.
I created strategic messaging and wrote the stock trading landing page, making sure the copy was FCA-compliant. I also wrote educational content for the blog and recruited and commissioned financial experts to write articles.
Pockets
Pockets is a smart tool that helps you organise all your bills and spending. Set up Pockets once and forget the hassle of managing bills forever. I created the strategic messaging and all the assets for the GTM launch – landing page, emails, push, article, social, blog, etc.
Web App
The Revolut Web App means you can now securely access your Revolut account from your desktop - no matter where your phone is. I created all the strategic messaging for this GTM launch and all the copy deliverables: emails, pushes, blog etc, raising awareness of this new feature that people had been asking for for years.
Strategic Messaging
I created the strategic messaging for all of the Revolut product pages shown below. That means working out 3-4 Value Props per product, then writing the messaging house which builds tone and style. I created taglines (Key Verbals), a unique lexicon and more for every product and made sure it continued beyond the landing pages through to all comms - the effect of this consistency is undeniably persuasive and builds confidence.
